Orana Gardens Ltd was established in 1989 as a charitable, not-for-profit organisation with a vision of providing full, high quality, aged care services for the Dubbo and surrounding communities.
Our vision has been realised and our evolution continues. We provide a suite of high quality aged care options which we are constantly upgrading and expanding.
Our achievements
This brief timeline illustrates our constant endeavours to expand and
upgrade our aged care options to keep up with constantly increasing
demand. It also shows our continual evolution over the last
few decades.
1989
The Dubbo RSL Aged Care Association founded by Mr John Whittle, Mr Lawrie Colahan and Mr Vern Traegar.
Members of the Dubbo RSL Sub-Branch and the Dubbo RSL Memorial Club
jointly fund stage 1 of the Orana Gardens Retirement Village (12 units)
and Roundhouse.
1990
Stages 2 and 3 (23 units) of the retirement village constructed.
1991
Stage 4 (13 units) of retirement village constructed. See the local advertising and news articles here.
1993
Orana Gardens Lodge (40 bed hostel) and non-denominational chapel (funded by the RSL Sub Branch) constructed and opened by NSW Governor Rear Admiral Peter Sinclair. See the ceremony program here
1994
Stage 5 (21 units) of retirement village constructed.
1997
Bellhaven Aged Care Facility in Wellington, NSW purchased (46 high care beds).
Chief Executive Officer appointed and Association reconstituted as a company limited by guarantee.
1998
Stages 6 and 7 (19 units) of retirement village constructed.
1999
Orana Gardens Special Care (dementia specific, 20 beds) and Orana Gardens Country Club built.
Stage 8 of retirement village (9 units) constructed.
2000
A further 8 units of stage 8 retirement village constructed.
2001
A
22 seater modified bus purchased with grant assistance from the
Department of Veteran’s Affairs and the Dubbo RSL Memorial Club.
Dubbo RSL Aged Care Association Ltd become the new
managers and approved providers of Kooringle Nursing Home in Tullamore.
The Commonwealth Government authorises the transfer of
the existing 21 (high care) bed licences to Dubbo.
2002
Stage 9 (30 units) of retirement village constructed.
2005
Opening of John Whittle House with 64 high care beds.
2008
Commencement of refurbishment at Bellhaven Aged Care Facility in Wellington.
2009
Completion of Country Club extensions.
Purchase and refurbishment of vacant child care centre in Goode Street
in order to be able to offer child care services to staff, kindred
organisations and the local community.
2010
Orana Gardens Child Care Centre opens with a licence for 40 children.
2011
Solar panels installed on all 148 Retirement Village units.
Purchase of two duplexes in Dubbo for investment purposes.
2014
Dubbo RSL Aged Care Association Ltd successful in applying to become a home care provider.
2015
Orana Gardens Child Care Centre sold to Oxanda Education.
2017
Full refurbishment of all Aged Care rooms, interior painting, landscaping commenced.
Dubbo RSL Aged Care Association Ltd registered name changed to Orana Gardens Ltd.
Orana Gardens Retirement Village changed to Orana Gardens Estate
2018
Solar panels were installed atOrana Gardens Country Club and Special Care Unit (Dementia Specific Area).
Landscape was completed at Orana Gardens Estate and main entrances of our Residential Aged Care areas.
Updated Bus was purchased for residents outings.
